Off-Campus Work-Based Learning for Students
Building Sustainable Careers through Collegiate Work Excursions
Giving back is a social responsibility of most corporation. One of the most popular and sustainable social impact activities corporations foster are externships and internships. Externships and internships not only supports student learning but it also allows companies to solicit skilled employees. NCOR's excursion program-Building Sustainable Careers through Collegiate Excursions has allowed students to enter the world of work to experience real time while attending college.

NCOR has partnered with a number of corporations and local businesses who have enjoyed the opportunity to provide real time work based learning at their establishments. NCOR has developed three off-campus learning programs: 1) two-day shadowing; 2) two-weeks externships; and 3) six-weeks internships. The shadowing opportunity is designed to allow individuals to take a glance at multiple careers of interest. The student selects three corporations or companies he or she finds interesting and they will spend time with a specialist who will share their work experiences and the workings of the company. The externship and internships provide student who have already selected a career of choice and wish to have some hands-on experience while completing their career coursework.

This collegiate activity is scheduled outside of the academic day. Most shadowing takes place during college breaks.
